Update on Public Meeting re Network Rail Construction Traffic

On Tuesday 31st March, a public meeting was held in Merton Village Hall to discuss the ongoing problems with rail construction traffic passing through the villages of Ambrosden and Merton. The meeting was chaired by Dr John Howell, Conservative Party candidate for the Henley constituency, and was attended by Mr Andy Milne, Ms Stella Whyte and Mr Mike Healy from Network Rail. District & County Councillor Tim Hallchurch was also present. Between 70 and 80 members of the public attended the meeting, coming from both Ambrosden and Islip as well as from Merton itself.

Everyone who came to the meeting was issued with a Briefing Note, which included a tear-off slip on which written comments could be recorded. The meeting ran from 7:30pm until just before 10pm. A great many questions and issues were raised by those attending, and in addition a total of 26 sets of written comments were received. Minutes of the meeting were also taken.
